Welcome to U-CARE BrainPub with the title Pragmatic trials in global health - how to match your method to your intention with Associate Professor Carina King

Randomized controlled trials are considered the gold standard for evidence generation interventions. Historically, RCTs have been more commonly applied to clinical research questions, investigating whether new treatments work, and work better than existing forms of care. However, RCTs are more and more applied to behavioral and societal interventions, which are less interested in the efficacy, but rather the real-world impact. Trial methods therefore need to reflect these different intentions.

In this seminar, Carina King will discuss the difference between explanatory and pragmatic approaches to intervention evaluation, taking examples of trials in global health.

For those who want to join, we will go to a pub after the seminar for an AW.
