Behavioural medicine and pain
This research area deals with studies on the development of chronic pain, its consequences, and effects of non-pharmacological as well as pharmacological treatments. For many years we have developed a research line within clinical intervention research where physiotherapeutic methods for physical activity and exercise are integrated with theory and empery from the area of behavioural medicine.
We strive for multidisciplinary collaboration in pain research and hosts the research programme U-PAIN (pain research in Uppsala) in collaboration with the Pain Centre at Uppsala University Hospital. Within U-PAIN we intend to create an infrastructure for interdisciplinary and translational pain research with the aim to facilitate the study and development of innovative methods for diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation.
